The Missing Links For Liverpool To Going Back To Winning Ways

Missing Links For Liverpool To Going Back To Winning Ways

Liverpool surprised everyone last season in the Champions League, reaching the finals only to lose to Real Madrid, much like how Croatia surprised everyone at the World Cup in the following month. But they could have had a decent shot at winning the Cup had Karius not fumbled in one goal and made a mistake on the other.

Karius

The keeper was supposedly concussed during the game and was only discovered after the game. Liverpool has always had goalkeeping issues since Reina left the club and they haven’t found a suitable replacement. Simon Mignolet is their alternative keeper and isn’t too far off from where Karius is at regarding quality. This has frustrated Klopp and the Kop time and again. Will Liverpool fans have something to look forward to and win this season? Let’s find out.

Trophies And Allison

Liverpool hasn’t won a trophy worth discussing since their win over AC Milan back in 2005. The last season was the first time they reached the finals since either. Since then, it’s clear the club needed to sign a world-class keeper, and they did that by signing Alison from Roma for a world-record fee for a goalkeeper. They paid 66 million to get him, the previous highest paid for a keeper being Ederson (Manchester City and also Brazil).

Signings

Ederson will solve Liverpool’s problems at the back. The club has also signed Naby Keita (agreed from last season) and Fabinho to bolster the squad. The only area Liverpool may be frail will be in the one defensive position (Lovren). But apart from that, Klopp’s Liverpool look ready to win some silverware next season. Could be the FA cup or could be the Champions League. It will be up to Mo Salah to lead the team.
