Christian Pulisic The Best American Soccer Player

Soccer isn't the biggest sport in North America, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't produce some top quality players, and proof of this can be found in Christian Pulisic, who was born and raised in the town of Hershey, Pennsylvania. Earlier this year, the 20-year-old winger was transferred to Chelsea from German club Borussia Dortmund for $73 million, making him the most expensive American soccer player ever. He will remain at Dortmund on loan from the Blues till the end of the summer before he makes his move to Stamford Bridge.

Following in the footsteps of his parents, he grew up playing soccer. As a child, he spent a year in England, where he played for Brackley Town youth team. When he moved back to the States, he spent most of his time paying for PA Classics, where he competed in the US Soccer Development Academy, which was the top youth soccer league in the United States of America.

Dortmund

At the age of 16, he was signed to Borussia Dortmund's Under 17 team, where he quickly made a name for himself. One year after his appearance with the youth team, he immediately made his way up to the main squad in 2016, where he broke several in and league records. In his first season with them, he scored 2 goals in just 9 appearances. While playing for Dortmund, his skills did not go unnoticed. He reportedly caught the attention of several Premier League giants, including current frontrunners, Liverpool.

Christian Pulisic also plays for the US national team, which she has represented at both youth and senior levels. He captained the Under 16 national team during the 2016 World Cup and was promoted to the senior team the next year. In 2018, he became the youngest player to ever captain his national team, in a friendly match against Italy.

Americans Going Pro

Although there have been a few in the past, only a handful of American soccer players ever make it into Europe's top leagues, and Christian Pulisic navigated his way into one of England's best clubs with ease. He deserves it, as, in the opinion of many, he is one of the finest soccer players that North America has produced. Today, he is one of the best American soccer players, and he’s well on his way to becoming the most celebrated player from the land of the free.
