Real Madrid Football Club: A Legacy Of Glory And Excellence

Real Madrid Football Club is based out of Madrid in Spain and plays its home games at the Santiago Bernabeu. The club was founded in 1902, 3 years after rivals FC Barcelona. The club wears white colors unlike most other traditional colors such as red and blue. Real comes from the world Royal which was given to the club in 1920 by the then king Alfonso the 12th. Just as Barcelona is owned and by its club members, so is Real Madrid owned by its own club members for its entire history. And similar to Barcelona, it's one of the most supported and followed clubs in the world. The club's biggest rivals are Barcelona who plays in the El Clasico.

Madrid's local derby rivals are Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid Football Club has never been relegated for its entire history and only two other clubs can claim that feat today. The club has a total of 66 Trophies which include 34 La Ligas, 19 Copa Del Rays, and 13 UEFA Champions League trophies. The club has had legendary players feature for the teams over the years. Some of the players include Ronaldo, Di Stefano, Puskas, Kopa, Figo, Raul, Zidane, Casillas, Ramos, Hugo Sanchez, etc.

Real Madrid Football Club's Past

Two years after the club's inception, it won its first title in the Spanish Cup final. The club won its first League title in 1932 and again the next year as well. Adidas has been a kit sponsor for the club since 1998 (over 20 years).

The 1950s – Real Madrid established itself as a European powerhouse in the 1950s. The team assembled at the time included Puskas, Stefano, Kopa, and Gento. The team reached 7 consecutive European finals and won it 5 times in a row, a feat no one else has been able to repeat. This team was considered one of the greatest Real Madrid squads of all time. One entity who proved integral to the club's success at this time was its President, Santiago Bernabeu. As a remarkable visionary, he can get on board when the club is in severe crisis. Yet, he managed to put all of that to rest successfully, but he effectively ensured that he guided the club till it became more significant than it ever was. He always complimented his big visions for the club with concrete action, which was why the club always found its way to domestic and continental success season after season. He was the one who began the policy of signing only superstars to the club when he brought in the likes of Ferenc Puskas and Alfredo di Stefano. This policy is one that the club follows to this day. He excelled at effectively managing the club's administration and its finances, which is why under his guidance, the club was able to build its home ground, the Chamartin Stadium, successfully. Considering how monumental his impact on the club was, the directors of Real Madrid met in 1955 and decided to change the name of their stadium from Nuevo Estadio Chamartin to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in his honor.
The 2000s – In the early part of the 21st century, Real Madrid managed to make one big-name signing each season for several seasons in a row. Some of these signings included Zidane, Ronaldo, Figo, Beckham, etc. The club managed to win a Champions League, a La Liga title and an Intercontinental Cup. This period also saw two tenures by current club president Florentino Perez. Often hailed as the second coming of visionary Santiago Bernabeu, Florentino Perez never hesitated to distinguish the club in any way he could during his administration. In addition to incorporating the concept of Galacticos which is heavily reliant on his predecessor's system of signing the best of the best, he pushed the club to stand out in terms of overall performance. The renovation exercise he carried out on the club's home ground also serves as a subtle testament that he remains committed to carrying out the club's legacy of finesse and sophistication to the fullest.
Ronaldo Era – The club brought Ronaldo to Real Madrid Football Club for a then-record transfer fee. He went on to become a club legend over the next decade, even scoring against every single team (19) in a single season. During this time,, the club appointed several Managers including Mourhino, Benitez, Ancelotti, etc. Ex-player Zidane was appointed to the club as manager twice and finished his second tenure before he was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti. Carlo Ancelotti has done a lot for the club in his relatively short time at the helm of affairs. Outside winning a few titles in such a highly competitive space, some of his significant successes include bringing out the best in players like Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr. He also has keen signing instincts, which were proved by bringing onboard the young talent, Camavinga, who is proving to be a valuable addition to the team. However, his tendency to rely on good players has put the team in a dicey situation a few times. But on the whole, he remains a great manager for this exceptional club.

Bayern Munich is in rank number one according to world club rankings. Barcelona is in rank number two and Real Madrid in rank number three. The club is currently managed by ex-player Zidane. Madrid signed Bale and Hazard in hopes of being able to replace Ronaldo when his time at Madrid came up. However, while the club has lifted several trophies in the past few years, it's hard to see someone fill Ronaldo's shoes from the current squad. The club has won 3 La Liga's in the last 10 seasons, 2 Copa Del Rey, 3 Supercopa, 4 Champions League, 3 Super Cup, and 4 Club World Cups. The team holds the record for the most La Liga titles, the most Champions League titles, the most Intercontinental Cups, and the most FIFA Club World Cups. Current stars at the club include Luka Jovic, Mendy, Eden Hazard, Sergio Ramos, Bale, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema, Courtois, etc.

Real Madrid's Future

Real Madrid Football Club will look to continue to dominate in La Liga and finish first or second in the competition with Barcelona. The club will also look to secure the Champions League over the next few seasons and decades. Zidane will look to build a formidable squad with existing players and by bringing in new signings each season. In fact, it's not hard for the club to attract players. However, the club knows they need to pay hefty transfer fees for key players.

They know that this might prove a challenging feat for even them to pull off. It is mainly because the effects of the pandemic and the resulting fluctuations in the economic terrain hit the club especially hard. So while they mightn't be in especially dire straits like some of their counterparts, it wouldn't be as easy to splurge on the players they need to secure the club's future success this time around.

But even with this, the club is under excellent management, and there isn't any doubt that they'll pull through this in reasonably good shape.
